Being black to me means, navigating in a way that is designed to meet adversity, it means falling down 10 times to get back up for the 11th time, with a level of resilience that remains unmatched.

Being black to me means being undervalued and underestimated, all whilst knowing you receive this treatment because your skill set is unquantifiable and that the unknown is inherently threatening.

I am a black women, I am a black mother, I am a black student and a Family Advocate, and in all my roles, I lead with tools passed on to me by the generations of black individuals who have paved the way before me.

Being black is my greatest strength, and I’m grateful to be working for an organization that uses their platform to elevate our voices, not only during this month but everyday
